What's Joe doing now?

First day at work

Written By: Joe - Jul• 13•13

Yesterday was my first day at work. It started early. I had set my alarm for 6 but the neighbors got up at 5. After getting ready I headed out and walked the mile to the station. After a nice ride on the light rail I got to the site. It was good to see Amanda, MJ and Danial again.
The day started off by unloading the seats from there transport containers and set them up in the big top. Fortunately we had hired muscle to help. This took about 2 1/2 hours.
After lunch we started attaching the chairs to the bleachers. Although the morning had been a lot of physical work the second half wan a lot of moving, bending and very monotonous.
Once the seats were up, the labor was let go and the rest of us started wiping down the seats.
We were finally let go at 5 PM. I walked to the station and rode the train back. I could feel my back stiffening up. When I got to my station I started the long and slow walk to the hotel. Part way there a thunder storm came along. I hid under a tree.
When I got to the hotel I immodestly crashed on the couch. when I woke up I got some dinner, Raien Brand, I was too tired to do anything more complicated. I spent the rest of the night watching TV and trying not to fall asleep.

Preping for my frist day

Today i woke up early. The neighbors were a bit noise as they got ready for the day. I finally decided to get up and do something. My first step was to get breakfast. I looked up Dennie on Maggie and started off. For some reason Maggie had me drive right past one. Maggie has been giving me some issues in Denver. I hope that Things will work themselves out.
After breakfast I went to the local Target and did some more shopping. As I was shopping I realized that this Target was connected to a shopping mall. It is a big mall, the walk around it 7/8th of a mile. I then headed for Costco then back to the room. After I unloaded I decided to see about how I was going to get to work.
I walked about a mile through a nice neighborhood and a park to get to the W line station. After a nice ride I made it past the Cirque site and went the rest of the way into Denver.
They have taken 19th street and make it a pedestrian zone except for the buses that run the distance of it for free. So I rode down to the far end and walked back. Along the way I got a ten pack of W-line tickets. I got off at another stop about the same distance from the hotel but not nearly as good a walk. and I have to cross a busy road. but that station is in a different zone so I will only be riding in 2 zones instead of three. I will have to check on the route at night to see how it looks.
When I got back I went out and did some more shopping and got some dinner. Now I am vegging in front of the TV
Tomorrow I go in early for my first day of work.

Long day driving

Written By: Joe - Jul• 09•13

The day started out with me being woken earlier than expected by the sun shining in the windows. I got up around 7ish and, after breakfast, set out about 8. For the most part the drive was uneventful. Lots of long and flat two land high way. I had to stop twice to wait for a pilot vehicle at two different construction areas.
One little bit of excitement, When I was on a flat portion of road I decided to open it up and see what my car could do. At about 90 I glanced in the back mirror and noticed the bike (that I had forgotten was there) being pushed out to about a 45 deg angle. I decided to slow back down.
Eventually I got to the Idaho boarder and the I-80 freeway. Many hours later Idaho became Utah.I finally stopped at a best western in Ogdon/
All in All a long boarding drive..

At my sisters

Written By: Joe - Jul• 08•13

First day of travel is over. I left Tacoma about noon and traveled south. I had realized a couple of days ago that there was a problem with my car set and could not figure out ow to fix it. about Olympia I had to stop and try again. I was able to use a vice-grip to fix it. The rest of the trip to Salem went uneventful. The drive from Salem to Sisters was a lot of fun. I love driving twisty road. and there wasn’t even much traffic. I got to my sisters about 7 and we had dinner. then sitting and updating my blog.

Tomorrow I head for Ogden Utah.

C-3 and counting

Well here it is. I leave for Denver tomorrow. OK, technicly today but I have not gone to sleep yet. Just doing a few house keeping things. Soon I shall go to sleep and wake up to my new adventure.

The Adventure begins

Written By: Joe - Jun• 29•13

So here I am, Nine days away from beginning my Adventure, or C-11 days (that is, 11 days till I start working).
For those who don’t know (and if you don’t, where have you been the last six months?) I am going to run away to the Circus. Or more correctly, le Cirque. I enjoyed my time working as an usher at Cirque du Soleil – Amaluna that I decided to reprise the roll in Denver.
I had originally planed on leaving home on July 8th and taking my time, stopping at places and seeing people, but that did not workout. It turns out that the returning Cirquadors (Cirques name for us temp workers) need to be there on the 11th for orientation and I start working on the 12th to set up seats. This caused me to drop all my plans to travel and instead go directly there. Oh well.
The plan now is to leave Tacoma about noon on Monday the 8th and travel south. First stop is Sisters, OR where my sister lives. No, really, my sister, Julia, lives there with her family.
The next morning I will depart and head east over the Oregon desert. That night I will find someplace to sleep somewhere east of Ogden, Utah. The third day I will arrive at Denver and check into my extended stay hotel. Because I am staying so long, 47 days, I am only paying $23 per day. I ironically when I added the additional 7 days my price dropped from $35. I am now paying less in total for 47 days than I was for 40 days, by about 1/3rd. Because of that I may be able to break even instead of loosing money for this trip.
My hotel is about one mile away from the W-line light rail station, and the trains run until 3 AM, so I am also taking my bike.
That is all for now. I have to clean out my car and do some fixing to the interior (the center armrest decided to break last week) before I leave. I will keep you updated as things progress.
